About this calibration
Method
Torque wrenches and screwdrivers are tested on a reference torque tester at three points from the bottom of their range up to their maximum, with repeat readings at each, following the approach of ISO 6789. Torque testers are checked with a reference torque transducer or a calibration arm and weights. Force gauges and load cells are tested pulling and pushing (tension and compression) against reference weights or a reference load cell. Your quotation states the test points.
How often
Where you have no interval of your own, ISO 6789 recommends recalibrating a torque wrench every 12 months or 5000 cycles, whichever comes first, and after an overload, repair or drop. Your quality system sets the interval.
Your certificate
Records the reading against the reference at each point, the error as a percentage and the measurement uncertainty, so you can check it against the tool's tolerance.
